Our community partnerships
As part of our commitment to building a flourishing New Zealand, Tax Traders is privileged to partner with several community organisations working on the frontlines to relieve poverty, build stronger families and bring hope to a world that needs it. Our support in this area is multi-faceted – including funding, serving on boards, providing strategic advice, and organising fundraising events. Here are a few of the charities we’re passionate about.
QES: Quality Education Services
Bringing help and hope through free education, social services and employment training
QES has an inspiring vision to bring help and hope to people of all ages through free education and employment training. From automotive and carpentry courses to life skills training and job placement, QES removes barriers to success and empowers people to thrive throughout Aotearoa. We love their hands-on approach and heart for community partnership.
Supporting whānau to thrive, in communities nationwide
Every relationship grows stronger with support, encouragement and nurturing. Parenting Place is New Zealand’s largest parenting charity, supporting over 400,000 families each year through transformational courses, post-natal support, one-on-one coaching, events, and in-school education. We love their six week Building Awesome Whanau course which draws on the richness of Maori culture and evidence-informed parenting techniques, helping families restore and flourish.
UPSIDE YOUTH MENTORING
In-depth mentoring for vulnerable youth
Upside Youth Mentoring walk alongside young people affected by traumatic childhood experienced such as abuse or neglect, who are at risk of long term negative outcomes. Young people, aged 9-13, are referred from principals, counsellors, psychologists and social workers. Upside’s volunteers provide long term, one-on-one mentoring to help the young person navigate their challenges and reimagine their future. Since 2006, Upside have successfully mentored 700 young people, with a life-changing impact.
Supporting Syrian refugee children to reach their potential
World Vision is an international organisation committed to helping children, families and communities overcome poverty and injustice, regardless of their religion, race, gender, ethnicity or ability. Through World Vision NZ, Tax Traders have been supporting families affected by the Syrian crisis - helping them gain access to clean water, safe sanitation and hygiene kits. As the conflict moves into its 8th year, many Syrian children are still not engaged in formal education and are not receiving adequate support to process the trauma they have endured.
GARDEN TO TABLE
An exciting hands-on food education programme for kids
Too many Kiwi kids are disconnected from nature and know little or nothing about where food comes from. Garden to Table is changing that. All around the country, they help primary school students enthusiastically get their hands dirty and learn how to grow, harvest, prepare and share fresh, seasonal food. In the process children are discovering a love for fresh healthy food, how to cook for their family, and gaining skills that will last a lifetime. Currently Garden to Table has 150 schools and there are more than 200 additional schools interested in joining the programme.
