A record of innovation, built around accountants
Tax pooling should cut through complexity, not add to it. Here's how it has become smarter, faster and simpler for accountants since 2012.
-
2012
Tax Traders begins
Tax Traders opens its doors on a simple belief: tax pooling should be available to everyone, not just "the big guys". It's also the first provider to quote interest rates on all transactions, so pricing is clear before you and your clients commit. -
2015 - 2017
Flexible online payments
Flexible online payment options, with daily settlements and automated instalment arrangements, make paying tax easier for your clients. Online swaps are approved instantly at the point of submission. -
2018 - 2019
Residual Income Tax Tool launches
The Residual Income Tax (RIT) Tool automates swaps, transfers and terminal tax payments, for better accuracy and efficiency. Single sign-on and a streamlined calculator interface follow, making it quicker and more secure to use. -
2020 - 2021
First Inland Revenue data feed
Tax Traders becomes the first tax pool with access to an Inland Revenue (IR) data feed, bringing provisional and terminal tax processes together. The Combined Report merges IR data with tax pooling balances for a single view of each taxpayer, and IR data validation tools detect incomplete data before you use it. The corporate dashboard adds a consolidated group view. -
2022
Defender and smarter automation
Defender checks transactions automatically, catching potential errors before they reach IR. Automated corrections fill gaps in IR bulk data using the real-time API feed. You also get more control over year-end automated deposits, and firmwide access permissions give your whole team client visibility. -
2023
ProvCheck and the RIT Tool for groups
ProvCheck is released, bringing IR data together with your practice management system to streamline provisional tax workflows. The RIT Tool extends to groups of related taxpayers. -
2024
Taxi launches
Our sibling company, Taxi, gives businesses affordable working capital, secured against the tax deposits they hold in the tax pool. The ICA Report helps you assess how tax pooling transactions affect imputation credit accounts. Two-factor authentication and a read-only view are introduced for firmwide access permissions. -
2025
ISO 27001 and an Inland Revenue product ruling
Tax Traders becomes the first tax pooling provider to achieve ISO 27001 certification, the international information security standard. It also becomes the first and only tax pooling provider to receive an IR product ruling. The ruling confirms that taxpayers can access funding through Taxi, using provisional tax deposits as security, without triggering a debit in their imputation credit account (ICA). -
2026
Attention Needed Report
The Attention Needed Report shows you which clients have shortfalls with IR, in real time, so you can step in before the legislative cut-off, when tax pooling may be able to reduce interest costs and eliminate late payment penalties.
Questions about switching
No. Funds transfer directly between pools, so there's no need to clear a balance out to IR first.
No. Original deposit dates and fund classification are maintained when you switch. Nothing is reset or backdated.
Yes. You're not limited to a single pool and can hold funds across more than one at the same time.
